Barack Hussein Obama was not eligible to be President of the United States. He never produced a valid, original born-in-the-US birth certificate as he was required in order to be eligible to take office.
There were various theories and speculations about Obama having been born in Kenya or elsewhere outside of the US but none of them are relevant. The only issue of relevance is the Constitutional requirement of all candidates for the office of President to show they are eligible for the office by virtue of natural birth in the US.
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Of course much speculation concerning Obama's eligibility generated when, just seven months away from the November 2008 election and Obama was on the cusp of winning the Democrat Party's nomination for President, Obama had still not produced a valid original birth certificate showing he was born in the US. This infuriated Hillary Clinton who simply did not want to lose her shot at the Presidency just because the nomination was given to someone who would be declared ineligible so she called for Obama to release his birth certificate. Republicans like Ted Cruz found this very odd because normally political parties first collect birth certificates before seriously considering anyone as a candidate to avoid embarrassing wastes of time and to prevent having to start a nomination process over from the beginning ... or worse, losing an election because they didn't check basic Constitutional eligibility first. Ted Cruz and other Republicans jumped on that information and began the "birther" movement which demanded Obama show his birth certificate. Strangely, Obama stalled for time as though he was trying to figure out what to do. Weeks passed filled with accusations that Obama was actually born in Kenya.
Then finally he coughed up a document. One month later, i.e. June 2008, the Obama campaign released a document claiming to be "the birth certificate" ... except that it obviously wasn't. It was a recently crafted digitally-native document created using modern word-processing and digital graphics software instead of being a scanned image of a basic original 1961 birth certificate banged out on a manual typewriter (which was all that existed when Obama was born). Nonetheless, thousands of websites rushed to announce that the debate was finally over, that all speculation had therefore ended and that the "proof" of Obama's legitimacy as President had been established and made public. Obama's supporters were quick to regurgitate the news and to preemptively squelch all scrutiny of the obviously fabricated document as "conspiracy theory."
The document was crafted on a computer using a word processor; the kerning gives it away. There were no word processors available in hospitals to create birth certificates in 1961 because there weren't even computers available. All word processors ever created use kerning to adjust individual letter spacing for appearance. Manual typewriters, on the other hand, can only give equal spacing to each letter and cannot anticipate what letters will come next. The purpose of this writeup is only to address Barack Obama's (in)eligibility to serve as the President of the United States, not to bog down in the technical details of how the document he presented as his valid, original birth certificate was a forgery. For that, Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, in conjunction with a team of forgery experts, performed a detailed analysis of the document in question and have discovered many giveaways of its phony nature. In reality, the kerning is all that is needed because all word processors perform kerning and no manual typewriters do. For those interested in other details I refer you to Joe Arpaio's findings.
There are those who wish to claim that what was presented was Obama's "long form" birth certificate and is expected to be "different." That claim itself recognizes that it is not the original. The end result is that to this day, no valid original born-in-the-US birth certificate has ever been produced for Barack Obama. He was not eligible to be President.
